What is CloudMade Select?
- CloudMade Select is a version of the CloudMade Maps APIs intended for developers with one or more of the following requirements:
- Service level agreements and uptime guarantees
- Technical support via email with CloudMade support engineers
- Placing third party advertising into applications built using CloudMade Maps APIs
- Full control including the ability to turn off CloudMade advertising.
Are there free versions of CloudMade services?
The CloudMade Maps APIs are available for free use by all developers and publishers on the web, iPhone and other mobile platforms. You can find out more here
What does the Select SLA cover?
CloudMade Maps Select offers a 99.9% uptime service level agreement
Do you offer custom SLAs?
Custom SLAs including 4 and 5 9s agreements, latency agreements and customised hosting configurations are available as additional services. To enquire about additional SLAs, please contact sales@cloudmade.com
What support is offered with CloudMade Select?
Email support with a CloudMade support engineer and a guaranteed 24 hour response time gives CloudMade Maps Select customers extra peace of mind and guarantees that any unexpected technical or implementation problems will be solved quickly and decisively.
How do I pay my CloudMade Select bills?
CloudMade bills Select users monthly via your My Account page on the CloudMade portal. Making payments takes only a few seconds and can be done from the CloudMade portal. Payment is due within 30 days of receipt of a monthly bill.
How is iPhone SDK Select and Mobile SDK Select usage billed?
iPhone SDK Select usage is billed based on the number of new users using CloudMade Maps API services within an application each month. For example, if you have an iPhone application that uses CloudMade’s iPhone SDK and you sell 10,000 units in a month, you will be billed for up-to 10,000 users @ $0.30 in the month.
So I only pay once for each user?
- Correct! You pay $0.30 for each user’s lifetime – so for only $0.30 your user can use your application for as long as they want.
Is there a limit to the number of upgrades I can make to my application?
No. As an iPhone or Mobile SDK Select developer there is no limit to the number of free upgrades you can make to your application. If you offer a paid-for upgrade via an in-app purchase or any other method you will be charged an additional fee of $0.30 for each user you upgrade.
Do you have a special Select plan for free applications?

Can I dispute a bill?
Of course. If you believe we’ve got your bill wrong in any way, please forward the following information to billing-disputes@cloudmade.com:
- The API key being used in your application
- A description of the problem
- Your Apple App Store, Android Market place or other documentation that supports your claim
How is Web Maps API Select usage billed?
Web Maps API Select usage is billed based on the number of map tiles or vector map tiles used by your website each month. You can find out more about billing rates here
Where can I sign up for CloudMade Select?

Can I add offline maps to my Select applications?
Mobile developers who wish to add support for offline maps to their applications can find out more about offline maps here.
Can I access your Specialist Tools via HTTP APIs from my Select app?
Yes. iPhone Select developers can access CloudMade’s Specialist Tools using an HTTP API. Use of Specialist Tools – like map tiles, geocoding, local search and routing HTTP APIs are subject to the terms of fair use policy
If a user re-installs my app on their device will I be charged twice?
If your user re-installs your app on their device and if a new device_id is issued you will be charged again for this user. If you are experiencing this problem, please contact our support team – support@cloudmade.com.
If my app is pirated will I be billed for each of the pirated users?
Unfortunately there is no way for us to tell that your app has been pirated so we will automatically bill you for all new users – paid of pirated. We know this sucks and we want to help if you are experiencing this problem, so please contact support@cloudmade.com and we’ll try to refund your fees.
